# Home Dashboard

The Home dashboard is the default landing page in ValueMap. It gives you a real-time snapshot of your organization's total value, initiative health, and approval throughput, without needing to open individual initiatives or run a report.

<Note>
  **Note on data**<br />Home dashboard aggregates and surfaces data from active initiatives only.

## Total net present value

At the top of the page, the NPV summary card shows your organization's total net present value, restated to the current anchor month and calculated using your configured WACC (weighted average cost of capital).

The card breaks NPV into four figures:

* **Estimated**: the total projected NPV across all initiatives as originally submitted
* **Realized**: the portion of NPV confirmed through logged actuals
* **Forecasted**: estimated plus realized, restated to reflect what's actually been reported
* **Variance**: the percentage difference between estimated and forecasted NPV

Use this card to answer, at a glance, "is my organization tracking to plan?"

## Key metrics

Below the NPV summary, five cards summarize initiative and approval activity:

| Card                 | What it shows                                                                      |
| :------------------- | :--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Active initiatives | Count of initiatives currently in an active status, with the change vs. last month |
| Avg time to approval | Average number of days initiatives spend in review before approval |
| Approval rate | Percentage of submitted initiatives that were approved |
| Pending actuals | Count of actuals awaiting entry for the current reporting period |
| Overdue actuals | Count of actuals past their due date and not yet logged |

Hover the info icon on any card for a definition of how that metric is calculated.

## Drilling into a metric

**Active initiatives** and **Pending actuals** are clickable. Selecting either card takes you to a filtered table listing the specific initiatives behind that number, so you can go from "there's 1 pending actual" straight to the initiative that needs it, without a separate search.

## Top NPV contributors

The Top NPV contributors section on the Home dashboard shows where your organization's net present value is concentrated, broken into four views:

* **By theme**
* **By portfolio**
* **By product**
* **By initiative**

Each view lists the top contributor(s), with a bar showing its NPV relative to the rest of your organization, and a summary of `$ amount · count of initiatives rolled up`.

### How to read a row

Each row shows:

* The name of the theme, portfolio, product, or initiative
* Its net PV contribution
* The number of initiatives included in that figure
* A horizontal bar sized relative to the highest contributor in that view

Because an initiative can belong to a theme, a portfolio, and a product simultaneously, the same NPV will appear across multiple views. This is expected, not double-counting at the organization level.

## Spread signals

Spread signals summarize how risk and estimation ranges are distributed across your active initiatives, so you can see at a glance whether your organization's forecasts skew conservative, aggressive, or somewhere in between.

There are three spread cards on the Home dashboard:

### Risk level spread

Shows the distribution of risk levels (**Low**, **Medium**, **High**) assigned across all active initiatives in your organization. The bar is segmented and colored by risk level, with the description above it calling out whichever level makes up the majority.

Use this to spot organizational risk concentration. For example, if the majority of your active NPV sits in High risk initiatives, that's worth surfacing before those numbers get treated as committed.

### Confidence interval spread

Shows the distribution of confidence intervals (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%+) built into active initiatives' benefit estimates. A tighter, lower confidence interval generally reflects a more certain benefit estimate; a wider interval reflects more uncertainty in the underlying numbers.

### Contingency interval spread

Shows the distribution of contingency buffers (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%+) built into active initiatives' cost estimates. A tighter, lower confidence interval generally reflects a more certain cost estimate; a wider interval reflects more uncertainty in the underlying numbers.

### How the spread is calculated

Each spread reflects the initiatives currently in an **Active** status only. Draft, returned, or archived initiatives aren't included. The percentage breakdown is based on count of initiatives at each level, not weighted by NPV.

## Recent Changes

A running log of the latest edits made across your organization's initiatives, right on the Home dashboard.

Recent changes gives you visibility into who's touching what, without needing to open each initiative individually to check its activity log. It's most useful for admins and portfolio owners keeping an eye on a busy workspace.
